Pregnancy Tests

Pregnancy Tests

We provide self-administered, quick, and accurate urine tests. Pregnancy tests include meeting one-on-one with an advisor. You do not need an appointment to have a pregnancy test but it helps to reserve your spot with an appointment so we can meet with you at a time that is convenient for you. Your pregnancy test appointment will last anywhere between ½ hour and an hour. An advisor will meet with you during this time in a private and comfortable advising room to discuss your options and provide you with helpful resources. Our pregnancy tests are 97-99% accurate. All of this is provided at no charge.

Options Advising

Options Advising

You do have options. Our goal is to help you make the most informed decision regarding your pregnancy. Many of our advisors have been in your shoes. They'll share their experience, as well as the facts, as you explore your options.

Ultrasound Exams

Ultrasound Exams

Clients who have a positive pregnancy test at The Resource Center are offered a free limited ultrasound and Doppler Heart Monitor reading. The purpose of the Limited abdominal ultrasound is to confirm pregnancy and determine the viability of your pregnancy. Our trained registered nurses are available during your appointment to answer questions you may have and to offer additional support and resources. It is important to determine the viability of your pregnancy; on average, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in natural miscarriage. For more information regarding this and why it is important to have an ultrasound before making a decision regarding having an abortion, please visit our sister site, www.mychoicegreeley.com

STD Testing

Ultrasound Exams

The Centers for Disease Control reports that there are 19 million new STD infections each year. The truth is that anyone who is sexually active (vaginal, oral, and/or anal) is at risk for acquiring a STD/STI. Even without symptoms, STDs can be present and passed to others. Many of the STDs begin without symptoms and may hide for months, even years, without surfacing. For example, 75% of women with Chlamydia have no symptoms at all. Here at The Resource Center, you can be tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea in a non-judgmental, confidential environment at no cost. Click here to learn more.

Parenting Classes

Parenting Classes

Clients who have a positive pregnancy test at the TRC are eligible to participate in our free parenting classes. In these weekly classes, you will learn about your changing body during pregnancy, and how to take care of yourself and your baby once he or she arrives!  Participants may earn maternity wear and baby care supplies. Fathers of the baby are also encouraged to attend.

Client comments about our EWYL classes:

My class was extremely helpful and my teachers were GREAT! I’m gonna miss class.  I made good friends and learned valuable things.  Thanks for everything!”

“I love this class because it helped me remember how to parent a newborn again after 4 years.  I felt comfortable to ask questions, express my thoughts and being listened to.  I also like the store, it provided things I needed like clothes and diapers.”

Post-Abortion Counseling

Post Abortion Counseling

Following abortion, many women experience initial relief. The perceived crisis is over and life returns to normal. For many women, however, the crisis is not over. Months and even years later, significant problems can develop. Women who have experienced abortion may develop the following symptoms:

  • Guilt
  • Grief
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Difficulty Bonding with Partner or Children
  • Eating Disorder

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, The Resource Center offers confidential, compassionate support designed to help women work through these feelings. You are not alone.

If you wish to begin the healing process from a past abortion or abortions, abortion recovery facilitators are available, free of charge. Deciding to seek help may be one of the toughest decisions you have to make, but it may be one of the best. We offer an eight-week Bible study, offered to women suffering from a past abortion. This study is led by a volunteer who has personally experienced abortion. Referrals are also available for men in need of post-abortion counseling.

STD, Birth Control and Abstinence Information

STD, Birth Control and Abstinence Information

It is important to know the risks of STDs and birth control use. We want to help you make the healthiest and most rewarding decisions regarding your relationships and your sexuality. Information regarding Natural Family Planning is also available for married couples.

Pregnancy is not the only thing to be concerned about after having sex. STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) are common. Some can be cured. Some cannot. Many have lifelong effects.

HPV (human papillomavirus) is the primary cause of cervical cancer. At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. Most HPV infections have no signs or symptoms; therefore, most infected people are unaware they are infected, yet they can transmit the virus to a sex partner.

Chlamydia is the most frequently reported bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the United States. Any sexually active person can be infected with Chlamydia. The greater the number of sex partners, the greater the risk of infection. Because the cervix of teenage girls and young women is not fully matured, they are at particularly high risk for infection.

In women, symptoms of Gonorrhea are often mild, but most women who are infected have no symptoms. Even when a woman has symptoms, they can be mistaken for a bladder or vaginal infection. Untreated gonorrhea can cause serious and permanent health problems.

There are still over 1 million people living with HIV in the United States. About one-fourth of those have not yet been diagnosed and are unaware of their infection.

Sex is a big deal. Know the facts. Make informed decisions. Respect yourself. If you have never been tested for STDs and you have been sexually involved with one or more partners, now is the time to be tested.

For Men

For Men

So you think she might be pregnant. Here's some quick advice that may be of benefit to you right now:

The Do's

1) Listen. The situation involves more than just you. There are now three lives to think about.

2) Stay Calm. Freaking out will only magnify the negative. You're not the first couple ever to be in this spot.

3) Talk about it. Hiding the news from people who can genuinely help you only increases the stress.

The Don'ts

1) Don't bail. The more you run from this, the harder it becomes to think and act clearly.

2) Don't pressure her. Applying pressure will only push her away, possibly into a regretful situation. Both of you would do well to work as a team.

3) Don't forget. You have a very active role in this situation. Listen to input as well as give your thoughts. It's true, we're here to help. At The Resource Center, we talk to many men about the choices they have when their facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Pregnancy affects you too.  Many men come into The Resource Center on a weekly basis. Contact us for a free, confidential appointment. We have MEN who are available to meet with you.
